"Let us do your baking"

Bakeries have been in the Baker family and in the Pittsburgh area since 1875 beginning with the Michael A. Baker Bakery, which later became the Seven Baker Brothers Bakery. In November of 1938, Jenny Lee Bakery was born by the dreams of cousins Paul Baker and Bernard McDonald.

With the help of their uncles Frank, Sylvester, William and Herman Baker, Paul and Bernard were able to open up shop in the "Diamond Market" of Pittsburgh. (Today, the Diamond Market is popularly known as Market Square.) By the mid 1940's, Paul had bought his partner's shares and become sole owner of Jenny Lee. Jenny Lee Bakery became very popular in Pittsburgh, spreading to over 14 retail locations and a production facility in McKees Rocks. That facility remains the principal location today. When Paul retired in 1978, his sons, Jim, Rich and Bernie shared ownership. In 1994, Bernard, along with his wife, Beverly, purchased his brothers' shares and are now the sole owners of Jenny Lee Bakery.

Many people have pleasant memories of the products of Jenny Lee Bakery; especially those prepared for special occasions, such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings. Also fondly thought of are the holiday items, such as strudels, paskas, stollens, pies, chocolate rabbits, peanut brittle, and New Year's Pretzels. Some of the more popular daily items are: donuts, cinnamon raisin bread, chocolate chip cookies, filled tea cookies, apple pies and chocolate sundae snack cakes.
